This weekend, many of the world's most famous celebrities and billionaires will arrive in Venice, Italy, for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. And while many aspects of the celebration have come under public scrutiny, including the massive disruption to the city, the amount of money being spent on it, and the plethora of of luxury yachts and private jets arriving to the historic locale for the occasion, some members of the public also noted their displeasure at the couple's wedding invitation.

In a portion of the invite, which was obtained by ABC News, the soon-to-be newlyweds ask guests to forgo giving gifts to the bride and groom. "We are excited for you to join us," it reads. "We have one early request: please, no gifts. Instead we're making contributions in your honor and with gratitude to you for making the journey to celebrate with us in Venice." The card then details how the bride and groom plan to donate to a variety of organizations associated with the Italian city, including the UNESCO Venice Office, CORILA, and Venice International University. It's unclear how much money the billionaire couple intends to give in honor of their attendees. However, some reports indicate that the duo plans to spend roughly $50,000 on each of their guests for the celebration itself.

"This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories," the invite continues. Yet, even though the request and disclosure may not have been particularly surprising, given the groom's billionaire status, the art that accompanied it was: Pictures of birds, butterflies, shooting stars, and Venetian gondolas accompanied the words, and internet users were clearly unimpressed with the design. "sorry this is by far the ugliest wedding invite i’ve ever seen," wrote a user on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "almost 225 billion dollars and the best you could do was microsoft word?"

While it's unclear what the other components of the invitation suite look like, we do know a number of the celebrities who received it.
