Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are one of the world's most famous couples in the world. The two, who started dating in 2023, dominate their respective industries, but despite the fact that she's a chart-topping pop star and he's one of the best tight ends in the NFL, the pair makes a concerted effort to keep their romantic relationship relatively private. Since publicly debuting their partnership in September 2023, they've appeared together at numerous events—and they've even been spotted out on date nights in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. Yet, they've often been hesitant to explicitly comment on the future of their dynamic—until now.
In a profile published by GQ on August 12, 2025, Kelce revealed more about his thoughts on what constitutes a strong marriage in reflecting on his parents' own relationship, which ended in divorce shortly after their two sons graduated from college. "They were always the ultimate partners in terms of being there for us as kids," the star athlete said in the interview. "There was no division in terms of anger at each other. I think the romance of it all might’ve just kind of faded, being so focused on their careers and raising a family. It’s probably hard for parents to keep that romance, especially when you've got kids that are into f***ing everything, you know?"

However, even though the tight end may have ultimately understood why his parents split, he was still hopeful about fostering a successful long-term partnership in his own life. "The handful of my friends whose parents are still together and still thriving—those are situations I would love to have," he told the interviewer. "Not that I think my parents dealt with it the wrong way or anything like that. It's more so, if we're gonna start this and do it, why not try and do it to last forever? Not just in a 'It's just for the kids' aspect."
In the conversation with GQ, the interviewer also reminded the football star of a past comment he made in which he said that his ideal partner would embody many of the same traits as his mother. When asked whether the Grammy winner fulfills that vision, Kelce was quick to highlight her similarities to Donna Kelce. "Their kindness, their genuineness, their ability to say hello to everyone in the room," he said in the interview. "Their ability to show love and support no matter what. And on top of that, their work ethic."
He also spoke more about his admiration for Swift, highlighting how they came to build such a strong relationship. "When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with," he said in the profile. "We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values."
