Walking down the aisle at the historic Holy Name Cathedral with her father by her side, Cristina couldn’t hold back the tears. It was a moment filled with love, family, and an incredible amount of joy. This wedding had everything – from a stunning dress by Galia Lahav to the flawless decor by Northern Greenhouses. How about that classic white Rolls Royce?
Can we also talk about how perfect the flowers were? Every detail was meticulously planned by Michigan Avenue Events, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. The day was capped off with a rockstar performance by the bride herself, making it truly a celebration to remember. From the exquisite custom dress to the show-stopping floral arrangements on the piano, every moment was captured beautifully by Kaylea Moreno. Here’s a look at Cristina and her husband’s unforgettable day, filled with heartfelt moments and incredible style.
The Love Story
We met a restaurant in our hometown 6 years ago, on Thursday Martini night. I was there with my girl friends , and he was there with his grandparents and family. His dad is actually the one who encouraged him to come up and say hi to me! He eventually did and asked for my number, we were together ever since!
The proposal was a dream come true. He rented out a private space, and decorated it with candles, rose pedals, and a balloon arch. There was also a cozy fireplace going, it was a few days before Valentine’s Day. Our favorite song was playing when I entered the room! Both of our families were there and I was so surprised, I genuinely had no idea! He proposed on a Thursday night after work, that really through me off!
Wedding Planning
My favorite part of the wedding planning process was working with a design team! I am really creative person, so coming up with ideas and visions was a dream come true. We designed a beautiful cascade of flowers and candles on top of a piano, which was the first thing our guests saw! It was a showstopping moment, everyone was talking about!
I was most looking forward to celebrating with all of friends and family. We had 300 people fly in from all over the country. We had guests fly over from three different cities, and it was so cool to see everyone together again!
The Big Day
I felt so beautiful when I put my dress on for my wedding; it fit me perfectly thanks to my fittings and seamstress, and I could not wait to wear it. I had a “first look” with my bridesmaids, and they were all crying, which then made me cry too! They were so supportive and loved my dress—I am so lucky to have such amazing and supportive ladies in my life.
Besides being extremely nervous walking down the aisle with my dad, seeing the look on my husband’s face as he was uncontrollably sobbing was unforgettable. I was not sure if he was going to cry, but he was a mess!
The Dress
My dress was truly the most unique dress I had ever seen! It stopped me in my tracks when I was dress shopping. It was sexy, classy and dramatic all in one. One of my favorite parts was the extremely long train, and open back. It was the perfect combination of everything I was looking for! I also loved the delicate touch of floral, it added a bit of elegance. We even designed removable custom sleeves, and it created a whole second look! I like to bet on my own, and trust me, this is not something you see a ton of girls wearing.
I probably tried on 10-15 dresses. I honestly thought I would try on hundreds! Once I found the Jules dress, I knew I did not need to look anywhere else.
Anything You Would Do Differently
No, I would not change a thing on my wedding day. As cliché as it sounds, the day was perfect. I enjoyed every single moment and I soaked it all up as much as I could. I even got on stage with the band, I was a rock star! Maybe I would wait one more day to go on my honeymoon, it was rough flying the day after, haha!
