Though Gomez has said she and Benny Blanco are taking wedding planning "one day at a time," they already knows what do—and don't—want their big day to look like.

After Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco got engaged in December of 2024, the duo was quick to say that they would take their time planning the wedding. "We’re very much 'take it one day at a time'-type of people,” Blanco told Rolling Stone in March. “We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring." But the bride-to-be's latest comments have us believing that they're a bit further along in the wedding-planning process than they'd like to let on. In an appearance on the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast yesterday, April 30, Gomez opened up about the wedding tradition she doesn't plan to follow on her big day—and the two that she will.
When asked about a first dance, Gomez said, "I don’t think we’re looking at having one of those ‘cause they’re a little—I feel embarrassed." Blanco added, "She's shy." While the Only Murders in the Building actress may think first dances are embarrassing, she doesn't feel that way about other important dance moments. Gomez noted that she's looking forward to sharing a special dance with her maternal grandfather, who she calls Papa.

“I am looking to have a special dance with my papa. He never got a chance to walk my mom down the aisle because, good for my mom, she decided to go to Vegas and was like, ‘Whooo’ and she’s still been with him ever since she was 26,” Gomez noted of her mother, Mandy Teefy, and her husband, Brian. "So it’s very cute that they did that, but I wanted to give my grandfather the opportunity to have that."
Another dance Gomez is happy to have at her wedding? The hora. The couple noted that they'll have a traditional hora, a nod to Blanco's Jewish heritage, and while Gomez is happy to take part, she does have a few reservations. "I am very nervous about that. I have to be honest, it looks so cute and adorable. But I was like, ‘What, I have to depend on something like this?’" Her solution? "I just gotta have a padding around," she said.
Gomez and Blanco announced their engagement on Instagram on December 11, 2024. "Forever begins now..," the bride-to-be captioned her post, which showcased her on-trend marquise-cut diamond engagement ring. In one photo from the announcement, the pair is seen sitting on a blanket on a fake field of grass. Gomez appears to be admiring her ring, and the couple is surrounded by Taco Bell boxes.
