After getting engaged, you and your partner may immediately start envisioning your wedding. And while there are some standard elements included in almost every big day, each couple differs when it comes to the design of their celebration. For example, if you plan to host a coastal fête, you may lean into a cottagecore aesthetic, turning to soft blues and whites to lend a home-inspired look to your venue. However, if you’re tying the knot in an urban art gallery, you may embrace a moodier vision for the space, integrating dramatic draping into your reception area. Yet regardless of the specific direction you choose, you’ll likely find yourself gravitating toward trending designs, wanting to give a fresh and current feel to your nuptials.
Today, on April 29, 2025, Pinterest released its annual report, providing insight into what brides and grooms are searching for on the global platform. According to the site, more than 3.8 billion wedding-related searches occur on it each year—with users saving 13.4 billion wedding ideas annually. From the go-to-silhouettes and honeymoon destinations to the most popular florals and colors, here, we break down a few of the key trends, giving you inspiration for your own celebration.

Surreal Florals
Fashion isn’t the only aspect of their big day where couples are seeking out a bold look. When it comes to the flowers for their nuptials, Pinterest reports that brides and grooms—especially those in Gen Z—are searching for surreal florals. From December 2023 to December 2024, searches for “floral hanging décor” went up 152 percent for that demographic. Some blooms, such as dahlias, lilies, peonies, hydrangeas, and calla lilies, also saw over 100 percent growth in search. And some couples seem to be moving away from real flowers entirely: Searches for “paper flower bouquets” were up 1,647 percent from 2023.

Nostalgic Fashion Designs
Rather than embracing a modern aesthetic when it comes to the looks for their big days, some couples are turning to previous decades for style inspiration. Reflecting the popularity of vintage dresses, Pinterest reports that searches for “1990s wedding dress” are up 138 percent from December 2023 to December 2024. (For members of Gen Z, the same search term is up 81 percent.) A certain silhouette appears to be increasing in popularity: “Drop waist wedding dress” is up 2,395 percent from 2023. Yet it’s not just the gown where brides are leaning into nostalgic styles. Vintage engagement rings are also rising in search, particularly when it comes to a certain decade; queries for “vintage wedding rings 1920s” are up 1,458 percent from 2023 to 2024.

African Honeymoon Destinations
When planning their honeymoon, soon-to-be newlyweds appear to be looking to one continent for their romantic getaway: Africa. According to Pinterest, searches were up 47 percent for “Cape Town honeymoon,” 73 percent for “Seychelles islands honeymoon,” and 13 percent for “Zanzibar honeymoon” from December 2023 to 2024. Brides and grooms also want to embrace a laid-back, island-inspired look when it comes to this vacation. “Island honeymoon outfit” and “beach honeymoon” aesthetic were both up in search from the previous year.
