Congratulations are in order for A.J. Brown and Kelsey Riley! Three months after winning the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, the wide receiver popped the question to his longtime partner with a pear-shaped ring. The proposal, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, also included a performance by singer-songwriter John Legend, an elaborate display of pink-hued florals, and a decadent dinner party for their friends and family, which included bottles of Dom Perignon.
In a video that the couple posted to their Instagram accounts on Saturday, May 3, the football star, dressed in head-to-toe purple, is seen escorting his partner, who dons a strapless black gown, to the illuminated space. Walking hand in hand, the two pass by a number of loved ones (and Legend performing at the piano!), before heading to a platform decorated with spring-inspired blooms. Eventually, Brown gets down on one knee and slides the diamond onto Riley’s finger. The pear-shaped jewel was surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds.
After the proposal, the duo celebrated their new relationship status, greeting the family members and friends who were there for the heartwarming moment. A number of Brown’s teammates were in attendance at the celebration, including Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, DeVonta Smith and Nakobe Dean. However, one famous Eagle didn’t appear to be present: Jalen Hurts, the team’s star quarterback, who recently announced that he himself had tied the knot with Bry Burrows, his longtime partner. While it’s unclear why Hurts wasn’t at the fête, his close relationship with Brown is well-documented: Hurts is the godfather of Brown’s daughter. Even though rumors circulated in 2024 that the two had had a falling out, in December, they squashed those allegations of tension between them, saying that their relationship was “good.”
Brown and Riley were first romantically linked in 2022. That same year, in September, they welcomed their son, Arthur Juan Brown Jr. The wide receiver also has a daughter from a previous relationship. He referenced his love for his family in a 2023 interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I know where all my blessings come from,” he told the newspaper. “And that’s the way I remain humble. I got a cross on. That’s what’s important to me — and my daughter, my son, my girlfriend.” In addition to receiving a slew of celebratory hugs from their loved ones who witnessed the proposal, Legend also made sure to express his excitement over the couple’s milestone by commenting on the announcement video. “Congratulations to you both,” the producer wrote. “Thank you for including me.”
