The "Stranger Things" actress has a new ring on the fourth finger of her left hand.

If the new ring that Maya Hawke was spotted wearing in New York City is any indication, her parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, might be taking on new roles this year: father and mother of the bride! According to People, the Stranger Things actress sparked engagement rumors after stepping out with what appears to be an engagement ring on the fourth finger of her left hand this week.
Hawke, 26, has been linked to Christian Lee Hutson, 34, for a few years, though it's unclear when they officially started dating. The two met in 2021, but they didn't make it red carpet official until this week, when the pair attended the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain, in which Hawke's Stranger Things co-star Sadie Sink is currently performing, People notes.
Though it was the first time the two made a professional appearance together, they have taken their partnership public on social media in the past. On Valentine's Day in 2024, Hutson posted a sweet Instagram tribute in honor of Hawke. "the first song from maya’s new record, chaos angel, is out now. i love this song. i love this record. can’t wait to share the rest of it," he wrote. Hutson, a singer and songwriter himself, performed with Hawke on her 2024 album Chaos Angel, which he references in his Instagram post.

"It is awesome. I mean, I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It's the best," Hawke said on the Zach Sang Show in July of 2024. "They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people. They really know you as a person who has feelings ... not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto."
Though it's difficult to see in the photos, it appears that Hawke's new ring in a yellow gold band; the stone is turned down, but it looks like it's likely a square- or cushion-cut center stone. Neither Hawke nor Hutson have shared a relationship update, and their reps did not make a comment on their behalf.
Hawke's parents, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, were married from 1998 until 2005 before calling it quits. Could the ring Hawke is wearing now be the one her father gave her mother at the time of their engagement? It's possible, but there's no way to know for sure without a clearer shot of the stone. Our best guess is that it's an entirely different ring—if it is an engagement ring at all. Despite the fact that Thurman and Hawke maintain a relatively amicable relationship post-divorce, the marriage wasn't all that sunny, and their daughter might want to start fresh with a brand-new engagement ring. In 2013, Hawke told Elle that tying knot wasn't something he should have taken on so lightly. "Success when you're young is really overwhelming. The world felt out of control," he said at the time. "And I wanted to stop it from spinning so fast. I thought marriage would decrease my variables or something. I was absolutely wrong... I had no business taking vows that would last more than two weeks."
