Key Takeaways

  • On the third episode of season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Jeremiah followed up his proposal to Belly with an engagement ring.
  • The ring is from the New York City-based brand Catbird and features a 3mm diamond and retails for $298.
  • Fans of the show joked about the stone's size and speculated that Belly and Conrad may later get engaged, and the older brother could propose using his late mother's ring.

After two years of The Summer I Turned Pretty fans being staunchly divided into team Conrad and team Jeremiah, the two camps finally have something to agree on: their feelings about Belly's engagement ring. In the latest episode of the hit Prime Video series, which aired on July 23, Jeremiah followed up his impromptu proposal with something a little more concrete. Little being the operative word. When Jeremiah presented Belly with an engagement ring in bed, fans were quick to note just how small the stone was.

Belly, who is played by Lola Tung, said that the ring was perfect. While the editors at BRIDES agree there's no right or wrong size for an engagement ring, fans of the show took to social media to joke about its petite size. Some accounts noted that "Jeremiah needed to put on his glasses to find the ring," a nod to the fact that actor Gavin Casalegno wore eyeglasses for one of the first times during this scene.

So, what do we know about Belly's engagement ring in The Summer I Turned Pretty. A lot, actually. The ring in question is the Diamond Fizz ring from popular jewelry brand Catbird. It's made from 100% recycled 14 karat gold. The band itself is a delicate 0.8mm thin, and it holds a 3mm round-cut diamond in the center. It costs $298, and you can order it online. This style also comes in a petite version, featuring a 1.7mm diamond.

It's worth noting that in the United States, the average diamond engagement ring features a one carat stone. This stone would fall significantly beneath that threshold. Also important? Jeremiah and Belly are much younger than most engaged couples today. As of the latest census data in 2020, men are getting married at 30.5 while women are getting married at 28.6. Both Belly and Jeremiah are only in their early 20s.

Based on Catbird's social media, Belly wears a number of the brand's jewelry pieces this season, so Jeremiah may have picked up on the fact that she favors delicate, understated jewelry. Fans couldn't get past its size, though. "The summer I couldn’t see the ring," one Instagram user wrote. Another said, "Wait there’s a ring? I didn’t see it."

So, is this the only engagement ring Belly will receive this season? Fans are skeptical. Later in the episode, when Belly and Jeremiah announce their engagement to their families, Jeremiah's dad says he won't give him his late mother's ring. TSITP watchers quickly took to social media to question whether or not that would be the ring Conrad gives to her down the line.
