A Station House Hotel Wedding with an Edgy DIY Heart: Kristina & Gary

Today's real wedding in the beautiful Meath countryside was so unique and dreamy. The Station House Hotel is undeniably magical and Kristina and Gary adored the quaint vibe, they couldn't have dreamed of a more magical place to tie the knot. It was the perfect size for their wedding party and the outdoor ceremony area was the most romantic location to exchange vows. Styled by the bride, their wedding aesthetic was driven by their personalities and they embraced rich hues in their wardrobes and with the stunning faux florals that they arranged themselves.

They celebrated with 60 of their favourite people on a crisp day in March and we are brimming with excitement for you to see the details which includes a breathtaking blue wedding dress, a beautiful twist on the classic ceremony entrance, and oodles of stellar decor finds on Vinted. Jenya Johnston Photography brought her signature artful eye behind the camera, you can pore over their beautiful photos below!

Kristina and Gary are both from Drogheda in Louth and that's where they are living their happily ever after today. They met in school when they were 14. "We dated several times as teens but always remained close friends. We officially decided to make a go of things when I was 19 and he was 20 after a weekend spend together at Electric Picnic - and living on opposite sides of the country for college at the time! It's been 13 years now."

They got engaged when Gary whisked Kristina away to Carlingford for her birthday. She reminisces, "It was the first night away together in two years (we have small children we find very hard to leave). The weather was awful but it granted us a grace period in the afternoon. We strolled around beautiful gardens on the hotel grounds, totally to ourselves, when Gary proposed by a water fountain. (I told him, 'Fff off, no!' from the shock haha)."

More than anything, Kristina and Gary wanted their spring wedding to truly reflect who they are. They are not into over excessiveness so they didn't want to overspend and they brought their dream day to life with clever DIYs.

Their fairytale ceremony in the woods was officiated by Veronica Allen with the bride arriving to Reflecting Light by Sam Phillips which featured in Gilmore Girls. "Gary is the Luke to my Lorelai," Kristina sweetly shares. The couple put their own spin on every inch of the celebration which included their ceremony entrance where they greeted each other and walked down the aisle together.

She sheds more light on the approach to the aesthetic, "The theme was Gary and Kristina, but it had an 'edgy' feel to it. People described it as a 'gothic fantasy'... It wasn't necessarily the theme we were going for but the dress I wore wasn't white and really led the way for the rest of the look. My dress was such an unusual colour, and Gary's coloured suit complemented it so much that everything else followed suit."

They didn't set a dress code as they wanted their loved ones to feel comfortable and dress how they liked and that included the bridal party where the bridesmaids dressed in flowing dove grey gowns.

The bride dazzled in a deep blue glitter gown from JJ's House and she sourced her accessories and sparkling shoes on Vinted. She completed her look with her grandmother’s necklace - how beautiful!

The groom's elegant maroon suit was from Mensworld in Drogheda with the groomsmen wearing their own suits. One of his best gents who lived in Scotland had a kilt specially made for the occasion in Co. Meath colours.

Their bewitching bash included a wonderfully romantic first dance to I Wanna Be Yours by Arctic Monkeys and a chic cake which was made by Kristina's aunt Nicola.

Kristina's bridal beauty look leant into the ethereal magic of the day, with makeup by Leigh Bagnall and hair by Hannah Rice who was also her bridesmaid.

When it comes to the big day, the bride says it's so important to be yourself. "Trends come and go but your relationship is built to last. Choose what feels timeless to YOU. And if something goes wrong, who cares? It's a story."

Some of their favourite details? The heartwarming speeches and polaroid cameras that their guests used to snap the sweetest memories.

While they contemplated Italy, Greece, and even Donegal for their honeymoon they both really wanted to go to Edinburgh. It proved to be the perfect destination as Kristina tells us, "We had the BEST time!"

Kristina and Gary, we are so smitten over your incredible celebration. Thank you to our lovely couple and to Jenya Johnston Photography who captured their day so beautifully.
