Bridal suits and separates have been coming in and out of trend for the past few years, with each new crop of brides-to-be eschewing or else heartily embracing the idea of traditional big-day fashion. As for how multi-piece bridal looks will be received throughout 2025 and into 2026? All signs point to them being firmly back on the map. Case in point? Five looks that were just debuted on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet, which is following the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." Stars like Kerry Washington and Coco Jones all arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May wearing chic, on-trend separates that would look just as good going down the aisle as they did walking up the stairs at the Met. Lupita Nyong'o even combined two of our favorite trends in one: Bridal separates and something blue fashion.
"Bridal suits and separates aren't a brand-new trend in the wedding fashion space, but these silhouettes are definitely going to have a huge comeback these upcoming months, all thanks to the 2025 Met Gala, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,'" says Corinne Pierre-Louis, a bridal stylist and BRIDES contributing fashion edit. "I love how these looks allow brides to break with tradition while still feeling elevated and fashion-forward."
As evidenced by stars on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet, the secret to amazing bridal separates is in the fit. "The key to a perfect, Met-worth wedding suit is int he tailoring and fit," adds Pierre-Louis. "Additionally, brides-to-be should look out for luxe fabrics and unexpected details like pearls and crystal embellishments to really make their ensembles stand out."

Zendaya
Proof that separates are having a moment once more? Bride-to-be Zendaya, who is engaged to Tom Holland, donned the trend on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet. As always, she was styled by Law Roach, and her look was head-to-toe Burberry.

Coco Jones
Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Coco Jones arrived at the Met Gala wearing what appears to be a two-piece embroidered ensemble. Her coat, which trails down into a long train, features all-over floral embroideries, while her pants are encrusted with pearls.

Lupita Nyong'o
Just like with a traditional wedding dress, there's no rule that says your bridal separates need to be white. Lupita Nyong'os stunning baby blue ensemble is perfect for the bride who doesn't just want to carry "something blue" on her wedding day—instead, she wants to wear it. According to Cosmopolitan, her blue suit, which she paired with a matching hat and cape, were designed by Chanel.

Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington took a different approach to bridal separates, proving that pants aren't your only option. Her look featured a tailored white jacket (with an open back) over a sheer white skirt. Her perfect finishing touch? A structural hat, which our editors predict will be a major wedding fashion trend in and of themselves going through the rest of the year. "Styling your look with a birdcage veil or statement jewelry is also something to consider," Pierre-Louis suggests.

Julia Carey
Television producer Julia Carey, who also happens to be married to TV personality James Cordon, adopted the bridal separates trend, too. She took a more classic approach, pairing cropped white pants with a classic tuxedo jacket. The one twist? Her right lapel draped across her body, flowing down into a train. We love this style for a city hall wedding or after-party option!
