For more than 30 years, New England brides have turned to VOWS Bridal for the gowns that suit their polished Cape Cod ceremonies, luxurious Back Bay receptions, and earthy Green Mountain vow exchanges. Owners Leslie and Rick DeAngelo opened the shop in 1992—after their own nuptials—and have spent the three decades since outfitting brides in Boston and beyond; in 2012, the salon even stepped into the spotlight as the featured shop in TLC’s I Found the Gown.
With current owner Olivia DeAngelo—"the next generation"—at the helm of the family business, the salon has “shifted its focus to special order gowns from top designers, offering a curated and personalized shopping experience.” Longtime designer relationships allow the salon to offer fashion-conscious brides showstopping frocks from Galia Lahav, Paloma Blanca, Berta Privee, Pen Liv, Stella York, and many others.

The boutique’s plentiful selection includes the most comprehensive collection of plus-size wedding gowns in the area, with half the store dedicated to gowns between sizes 14 and 32, says DeAngelo, and the largest designer selection in New England. This means it’s essential for brides to take full advantage of their appointment by considering the full complement of shapes and styles—including gowns that don’t match their inspiration boards. “Keep an open mind!” says DeAngelo. “Try on different styles and silhouettes because you never know what you will like once it's actually on you!” (She recommends trying her favorite trend—gowns with feminine, floral rosette detailing: “They are the perfect balance between sophistication and whimsy,” she says.)
And even after a lifetime of seeing brides light up when they find their dream dress, the emotion of the moment never wanes, says DeAngelo. “There is a certain energy shift,” she says. “It's very special to witness!”
