Twice a year, the bridal fashion world turns its attention to New York for New York Bridal Fashion Week (NYBFW), with designers unveiling their latest collections through runway shows, presentations and showroom appointments. Having already covered the trends emerging from the Spring 2027 bridal collections earlier this year, we're back to explore what’s next for Autumn/Winter 2027. From fresh takes on timeless silhouettes to exciting new details and statement-making designs, we've been poring over the latest collections to bring you our New York Bridal Fashion Week A/W 2027 Trend Report, highlighting the biggest bridal fashion trends set to inspire brides in the seasons ahead. Plenty of bridal favourites dominated the runways again this season. Think lace (of course!), bows, corsetry, reinvented strapless silhouettes, and the ever-popular basque waist, all given fresh interpretations for the new season ahead. Alongside these enduring favourites, we spotted exciting new directions that we're dying to see real brides embrace, from unexpected pops of colour to dramatic silhouettes and playful details. If you're a bride-to-be shopping for your wedding dress next year, we've rounded up the top 10 wedding dress trends from NYBFW A/W 27 that we can't stop thinking about and are most excited to see arriving in bridal boutiques next spring and making their way down the aisle in 2027. But first, a little news from New York. There was a noticeable shift in the line-up this season. Traditionally, bridal designers unveil two collections each year, in spring and autumn, but the couture-level craftsmanship behind luxury wedding dresses has seen some brands opt for smaller capsule collections or skip an autumn presentation altogether. That didn't mean a quieter Fashion Week, though. The schedule featured exciting newcomers alongside established names, including Elie Saab, whose Light of Lutèce collection offered a glimpse of his signature opulence ahead of the opening of his new Paris flagship in the new year. We also saw the return of Vivienne Westwood after a few seasons away, while Wang Feng Couture made its debut at New York Bridal Fashion Week and Hera Couture unveiled its Defiant Renaissance collection for its New York Bridal Week debut, bringing fresh creative perspectives to this season's line-up. As for the major themes? Lace, naturally, was everywhere, but not always in the traditional way we'd expect. The romantic fabric was reimagined across form-fitting jackets, flowing capes and unexpected details, while designers embraced volume with billowing skirts and dramatic silhouettes. There was a noticeable shift away from minimalism this season, with designers leaning into grandeur, intricate craftsmanship and unique details that made each look feel distinctive. That said, the effortless aesthetic championed by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was still present, with sleek column gowns and slinky slip dresses offering a more understated alternative, although these pared-back styles felt less prominent than in recent seasons. From unexpected polka-dot wedding dresses to full-on mermaid gowns, NYBFW A/W 27 delivered plenty of runway moments that wowed the crowds and kept us guessing, with fresh takes on bridal classics sitting alongside bold, fashion-forward designs. The ballgown was back (not that it ever went away!) and more chic than ever. For A/W 27, designers gave this fairytale favourite a fresh, fashion-forward feel, with sculptural silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and beautifully considered details that made a statement without sacrificing elegance. From sleek, minimalist designs to gowns with dramatic trains and intricate embellishment, these were dresses made for a grand entrance. With second-look dresses becoming an increasingly popular choice for the reception, brides have even more reason to embrace a show-stopping ballgown for the ceremony. Think full-on Father of the Bride glamour, with a modern take on the iconic Annie Banks wedding dress moment. As seen at: Justin Alexander Signature, Amsale, Elissar Bridal, Ines Di Santo, Marmar Halim, Sareh Nouri, Vivienne Westwood, Zuhair Murad, Anne Barge, Elie Saab, House of Gilles, Mark Ingram Collection, Wang Feng Couture, Idan Atelier, Nadia Manjarrez, Bremelia Peplums made a chic statement at NYBFW A/W 27, proving that this once-popular detail has well and truly found its way back into the bridal spotlight. Reimagined for the modern bride, the trend ranged from subtle, sculpted waistlines to more dramatic architectural shapes, adding dimension, definition and a fashion-forward finish to classic bridal silhouettes. Designers embraced the peplum in different ways, balancing structured tailoring with softer, more fluid details. Far from feeling like a throwback, this refreshed take on the trend feels polished, contemporary and effortlessly elegant, offering brides a stylish way to add interest to their wedding-day look. As seen at: Wang Feng Couture, Watters, Elissar Bridal, Francesca Miranda, Elie Saab, Rita Vinieris, Ricca Sposa, Sébastien Luke, Hera Couture, Idan Atelier Versatility was a key theme for A/W 27, with designers embracing clever additions that transform a wedding-day look in an instant. From dramatic capes and delicate capelets to removeable sleeves, overskirts and bodice toppers, these considered detachable details offer brides the opportunity to switch up their look without changing their entire outfit. As seen at: Lihi Hod, Mark Ingram, Pnina Tornai, Danielle Frankel, Elissar Bridal, Mark Ingram Collection, Marmar Halim, Vivienne Westwood, Valentini, Bi Pham, Hera Couture For A/W 27, designers embraced the drama of black accents, bringing a fashion-forward edge to traditional bridal silhouettes. From a statement velvet bow cinching the waist to striking black-and-white gowns, the contrast felt bold, sophisticated and anything but ordinary. Sareh Nouri showcased the beauty of a black velvet bow, WONA Concept leaned into dramatic monochrome designs, while Galia Lahav caught our eye with a playful black-and-white polka-dot dress that brought a fresh, unexpected twist to bridalwear. Some leaned into rich rose hues, while others favoured soft, muted blush tones for a more understated take. From voluminous ballgowns that brought a fairytale feel to the runway to sleek, silky dresses with an effortlessly elegant finish, pink appeared across a variety of silhouettes and styles. Think swishy fringing, devoré fabrics, feather embellishments, delicate shawls and dropped-waist silhouettes that channel the romance of the Jazz Age. These vintage-inspired touches brought movement, texture and a sense of old-world glamour to modern bridalwear, proving that a little Great Gatsby energy never goes out of style. Trousers were more prominent than ever at NYBFW A/W 27, with designers embracing everything from delicate lace separates to sharp, tuxedo-inspired tailoring. As seen at: Elie Saab, Bi Pham, Atelier Arielle, Francesca Miranda, Mira Zwillinger, Ouma, Idan Atelier While we're seeing a return to more traditional bridal silhouettes in recent seasons, designers are finding exciting ways to reinvent the wheel in a market that can sometimes feel repetitive. For A/W 27, texture took centre stage, with unexpected fabric combinations, intricate appliqués, sculptural embellishments and innovative fabric manipulation bringing a fresh dimension to bridalwear. From three-dimensional floral details and tactile embroidery to beautifully woven fabrics and unexpected surface finishes, these designs were all about creating gowns that are as interesting to touch as they are to look at. Alon Livné White stood out with his Garlands collection, blending wearable art with aquatic influences, crystal-like skin accents and shell-inspired details that felt straight out of a fantasy. From siren-like glamour and fresh takes on the classic mermaid silhouette to sculptural, ocean-inspired embellishments and fabrics mimicking the fluid movement of water, these designs brought a captivating, ethereal quality to bridal fashion.
