Key Takeaways

  • Kelly Osbourne and Sid Wilson are officially engaged.
  • This past weekend, the musician proposed with a bespoke ring that was inspired by the former reality star's nickname, "Honeybee."
  • Before her death, Joan Rivers used that nickname for Kelly.
  • The sparkler is estimated to cost approximately $110,000, according to an expert jeweler.

This past weekend, the Osbourne family had two major milestones to celebrate. In addition to Ozzy Osbourne playing his final concert with Black Sabbath, Kelly Osbourne announced her engagement to Sid Wilson. In a nod to the significance of the occasion, the Slipknot member popped the question to the former Fashion Police host at her father's show while the two were surrounded by their loved ones. In a video of the moment posted by Kelly, the couple is seen hanging out backstage at England's Villa Park. "Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world," Wilson says in the clip. However, Ozzy quickly interjects saying, "F--- off, you’re not marrying my daughter," causing everyone in the frame to burst into laughter. Undeterred, Wilson soon continues his proposal. "Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you," he says. "So, in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly, will you marry me?" The keyboard player then slips the ring onto his new fiancée's finger, much to the excitement of their loved ones.

The ring, a bespoke sparkler created by Mouawad, was inspired by Kelly's nickname, "Honeybee." In a video posted to Instagram, Wilson and Pascal Mouawad, a co-guardian of Mouawad, reveal the creative process behind the piece. "I have a nickname for Kelly, and it's 'Honeybee,' and, coincidentally, a friend of hers, Joan Rivers, used to call her this," Wilson tells Mouawad in the clip. "It was a nickname she had for her. I didn't know this. It's like an amazing coincidence. It was because she would buzz around and spread this good energy around, like a bee, so I want the ring to reflect this somehow."

Taking inspiration from that sentimental nickname, Mouawad's designers crafted a unique sparkler featuring a round white center diamond, additional white and yellow diamonds, and citrine accents, set in 18K yellow gold. When the piece was revealed to Wilson, he was throughly impressed, commenting on how it exceeded his expectations. "It's better than I expected," the musician says in the clip. "It's more than perfect. It's a fairy tale."

While the jeweler doesn't disclose the value of the ring, Benjamin Khordipour at Estate Diamond Jewelry, estimates that it costs approximately $110,000. "This ring is truly one-of-a-kind—I haven’t seen any recent celebrity wear anything quite like it," he says. "Its design takes cues from the bold, statement rings of the 1980s, with a strong emphasis on the center stone and an unmistakably dazzling presence." He adds that the craftsmanship of the sparkler is truly remarkable. "It’s rare to see such intricate detail executed with this level of precision and artistry on an engagement ring," he notes.
