There's something supremely sophisticated about a tweed suit and as we head into autumn and winter wedding season we thought it was time to highlight some of our favourite stylish looks. Based on the practical, outdoorsy garments traditionally favoured by country folk, the heritage look works particularly well for at this time of year, but really tweed groomswear is an all-season wedding look for the whole wedding party, and if you're tying the knot on a country house estate, all the better. When it comes to tweed groomswear, the possibilities are endless - the effect can be edgy, dapper, relaxed, or eccentric, depending on how you style it. By way of inspiration, we've rounded up some of our favourite tweed looks, as worn by real grooms. Enjoy! 1. How immensely dapper are these two grooms, David & Paul? They opted for timeless tweed suits from Hunter Treacy with elegant brogues from Bray Footwear while their buttonholes were created by Fleurtique Florist. 2. Doesn't groom Luke look great in his tailored heritage green tweed suit from Tomorrows Menswear in Derry? Luke completed the look with shoes and accessories also from the Derry boutique, ensuring a cohesive and classic style from head to toe. 3. Inspired by a high-fashion look from Jonathan Anderson's Spring 2026 Menswear show, groom Andrew commissioned a bespoke, double-breasted tweed suit from Kevin & Howlin in Dublin which was crafted from an earthy green Donegal tweed with multi-coloured flecks. The suit perfectly complemented the rugged Kerry landscape and the pink tones in his stunning bride Maureen’s dress. 4. Real groom Gavin kept it simple in a fetching petrol blue two-piece by Louis Copeland & Sons, accessorised with a jaunty contrast bow tie. 5. We love the combination of rich earthy tones in real groom Seán's contrasting three-piece tweed suit which is also by Louis Copeland & Sons. 6. Grooms who favour tweed often plumb for dark colours, but real groom Brent turned the trend on its head with his soft beige three-piece suit. He used a dark bow tie and pocket square to differentiate his look from that of his groomsmen, which is a handy tip for grooms who fancy an element of uniformity! 7. Real groom Jonny ensured that his groomswear look fitted perfectly with his rugged coastal ceremony setting on the cliffs of Co. Derry. He was well protected against the elements of the North Atlantic ocean in his tweed three-piece, and we love the hints of autumnal red, finished off with a dried flower buttonhole. 8. Dapper groom Paddy sported a three-piece sage tweed suit finished with a rustic brown bowtie and pocket square and a cheerful bunch of florals as a buttonhole. 9. A natural companion for kilts, tweed is hugely popular among Scottish grooms, and groom Billy in this charcoal and sea green combo is one of our favourite kilt looks to date! 10. Groom David looked great in his navy tweed three-piece suit which he paired with a dainty daisy boutonniere, a navy knit tie and a metallic banjo pin. 11. Lee's wedding day look was the epitome of rustic elegance with a tweed suit from Freddie Hachet, tan brown leather brogues and a custom-made watch from England. 12. Accessories are the key to this real groom's look - as Dan's wedding was around Christmastime, he and his groomsmen added a wool scarf for a bit of extra warmth to their suiting by Magee 1866. 13. Groom Dane's navy tweed suit was purchased on the high street. His quirky shirt completes this entire look and vibe, along with his contrasting pocket square and brown leather shoes. 14. Jim was effortlessly dressed in a Louis Copeland & Sons tweed suit, open crisp white collar shirt and black patent shoes. 15. Real groom Stephen chose a tweed three-piece by Magee 1866 for the big day and dressed his groomsmen in complimentary three-piece suits by Benetti. What a stylish trio they make! 16. For his stylish and intimate cinema wedding, real groom Phil rocked a merlot shade tweed suit with contrasting tweed waistcoat, and the cutest socks we've ever seen, which you have to check out here! 17. A wonderful woodland wedding couldn't be more perfectly suited to a tweed groomswear look. Brian chose a deep green three-piece from Magee 1866 while his groomsmen rocked warm earthy ochre jackets. 18. With his woodland wedding theme inspired by bluebells, Jack's tweed groomswear look couldn't have been more perfect. He made sure to stand out, but tied his look to his groomsmen perfectly with a dark brown waistcoat. 19. The country festival eco-vibe of Thomas and Lydia's wedding day fitted with their choice dark stone-coloured tweed suiting from Moss Bros, bottle green neckties and dried flower buttonholes. Tweed groomswear really can be for any season! 20. Alan's rustic green plaid suit by MJs Menswear paired perfectly with his choice of a mocha shirt and a silk sienna-hued bow tie. 21. Finally, Cian chose a charcoal grey tweed suit from Ted Baker for his "relaxed, fun, and down-to-earth" and super creative wedding to Sarah. Lots of groomswear brands carry tweed and heritage styles, but there are a few labels that have really nailed the tweed groomswear look. Here are a few options to suit every budget!
