On September 27, 2025, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco tied the knot in a star-studded celebration. Over the past few days, a number of details have emerged about the newlyweds' ceremony and reception, which unfolded at Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California. After the couple exchanged their vows, they celebrated their new marital status with their 170 guests, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Paul Rudd, and Paris Hilton. Due to the background of the couple—who recently released a studio album together—it wasn't surprising that festivities centered around music and dancing. Grammy winner Mark Ronson reportedly served as the DJ for the occasion, according to Us Weekly.
Below, we shared every surprising detail about the pair's California celebration, including one that has a connection to a beloved royal wedding.
The bride's vows were much longer than the groom's.
While they haven't yet revealed what they said in their vows, it's clear that the ceremony was an emotional one. The actress was reportedly "sobbing and crying so hard," a source told Us Weekly, noting that the affair was "extremely emotional." However, it appears that their promises greatly differed in length. The music producer's vows were "much shorter" than the movie star's—but were just as heartfelt, the outlet reported.

Their first dance featured moves from Grease and Dirty Dancing.
The bride and groom shared a choreographed first dance that featured moves from Dirty Dancing and Grease, the outlet reported. Rather than keeping their shoes on for the number, the duo opted to perform the routine barefoot. The "Who Says" singer also switched into a mid-length vintage piece for the moment. "Everyone was in awe," a source told Us Weekly. Their decision to participate in the tradition was a surprising one. In April 2025, the actress noted that they would likely skip the custom. "I don’t think we're looking at having one of those 'cause they’re a little—I feel embarrassed," she said on Table Manners with Jessie & Lennie Ware.
The moves the duo turned to for the tradition may have been the same ones that Prince William and Kate Middleton displayed at their 2011 celebration. At their post-nuptial affair, the two royals surprised their guests by dancing to "You're the One That I Want" from Grease, wrote Robert Jobson in Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography. "[They] began dancing around, pointing at each other, and mouthing the words with the style of the lead characters Danny and Sandy," he reported. "It brought the house down."
They remained barefoot for much of the evening.
The couple's first dance wasn't the only moment in which they decided to ditch their dress shoes. "They had rugs and carpet everywhere because Benny does not like to wear shoes," a source told Us Weekly, adding that both the bride and groom were barefoot for the majority of the celebration.

Taylor Swift gave a moving speech.
Having penned hundreds of songs about love, it's no surprise that Swift knew exactly what to say when it came time to give a speech at the couple's nuptials. According to the Daily Mail, the pop star's words left Gomez and other guests in tears because they were "so beautiful." The "Fortnight" singer spoke about her decades-long friendship with the bride, noting that "whenever one of them had their hearts broken from failed relationship[s] over the years, they were always there for each other," a source told the outlet. The songwriter also called Blanco "the most perfect person" for the actress.
Their décor was "eclectic."
According to Us Weekly, the music producer was responsible for planning much of the celebration. As a result, the décor reflected Blanco's unique taste. "It was very much his style and was similar to the décor in their Beverly Hills home," a source told the outlet. "He is very into design and loved doing it." Persian rugs, warm-hued florals, and velvet couches appeared throughout the space.
They had a cocktail-style reception.
Rather than hosting a formal, sit-down dinner, the bride and groom opted to have a cocktail-style reception that was catered by Nobu. According to Us Weekly, they served sushi, fish, and steak. When it came time to offer their loved ones dessert, they set up a decadent ice cream sundae bar.
