When King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles were married on April 9, 2005, their nuptials lacked much of the pomp and circumstance associated with more recent royal "I dos." The couple was originally set to tie the knot on April 8, 2005, but the death of Pope John Paul II impeded with their plans—to ensure notable guests were able to attend both events, the couple pushed their wedding to April 9, when they hosted two wedding events—a civil ceremony followed by a religious blessing. For their legal wedding, which was held at Windsor Guildhall, Camilla wore an ivory silk tea-length wedding dress and coat by Anna Valentine. Today, 20 years later, she rewore that outfit—albeit with some modifications—during a visit to the Italian Parliament with her husband.

According to the Daily Mail, Valentine, the original designer of the dress, helped repurpose Camilla's look for the important event, which falls during the busiest day of the couple's four-day State Visit to Italy. Her dress does look slightly different now. According to the outlet, "additional embroidery details by the King's Foundation artisan Beth Somerville" were added to the frock; a scalloped detail along the neckline and embellishment at the hem also appear to have been removed.

While Camilla clearly chose to rewear her wedding look in honor of the couple's milestone anniversary, it's not actually the first time she's donned it since the wedding. According to the Daily Mail, she first rewore the look in 2007, just two years after their nuptials, to an opening of the National Assembly for Wales.

Camilla also had a second wedding-day look in 2005, though it's unclear if she's ever worn that frock again. After their civil nuptials, King Charles and Camilla headed to St. George's Chapel, Windsor, for a religious blessing. For that event, the bride changed into a blue and gold coat dress, also designed by Anna Valentine.

Though their nuptials went off without a hitch, there were some hiccups in the moments leading up to King Charles and Camilla's vow exchange, Camilla reported in 2022. In a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in September of that year, Camilla explained that she accidentally wore the wrong shoes to the wedding. “I remember coming from here, Clarence House, to go to Windsor the day I got married when I probably wasn't firing on all cylinders—quite nervous,” she said in the tribute. “For some unknown reason, I put on a pair of shoes, and one had an inch heel and one had a two-inch heel. So, I mean, talk about hop-along! There was nothing I could do. I was halfway down in the car before I realized. And, [the Queen] could see it, and she laughed about it and said, ‘I’m terribly sorry,’ and she did have a good sense of humor.”
