Pre-Wedding Pampering: Your 12-Month Wedding Beauty Timeline

So you're getting married. The venue is sorted, the band is booked, and you're knee deep in guest lists, decorations, and menu tastings. Now is the time to take a step back and swap the wedding planning for some wedding pampering with our wedding beauty timeline!
We're talking wedding hair and makeup. Your wedding day is your time to shine, so you'll want to look, and more importantly feel your best, right? So to help you work out when to scrub, wax, dye and tan, we've put together a simple wedding beauty timeline.Because whether you've six months, six weeks or six days to your wedding, there's always time to glow up, right?
First things first, there are a few things you can do to get yourself on the right track from the start and allow your natural beauty to shine through all its own...
Start drinking your eight glasses of water a day. Keeping hydrated is key for your skin and it will be glowing in no time.
Start talking multi-vitamins, the planning process can be stressful and tiring, getting sick on top of it won't help!
If you have skin issues like acne, keratosis pilaris or rosacea that you want to tackle before your wedding (and it's totally okay if you don't!), make an appointment to see your doctor and they can give you the best skin treatment plan.
Not everyone is a gym bunny - and we DO NOT advocate for pre-wedding weight loss - but if you can get out and stretch your legs the exercise will really help with any wedding jitters, you'll be less anxious and you'll feel great (it's proven!)
Start a facial regime, double cleanse, tone and moisturise every day. That means taking your makeup off every night. Make sure you're wearing SPF, even when it's cloudy. Do some research into what products you need for your age and skin needs. There are lots of great products out there for every budget, so get some samples and find out what works best for you. We have a list of the best SPFs here.
If you have the budget, and it's something you want to do, now is the time to begin regular facials or massages. Here's our pick of the best bridal facials.
It's a good idea to start hair prep now too. Using regular hair masks, going for regular trims, and discussing with your stylist if you plan to phase in or out your style or hair colour. Read our complete hair timeline here.
If you're thinking about changing your hair colour, experiment now, if you're not happy, you have plenty of time to change it.
Start booking in your hair and makeup trials and assemble your wedding morning glam squad. Experiment with some different looks but remember to stay true to who you are and pick the look you're most comfortable with.
Visit the dentist - having your teeth cleaned by a pro is always a good idea and having it done early will leave space in your schedule in case you have any issues or opt for teeth whitening. You can go the professional route or there's always budget friendly whitening kits you can use at home.
Again, we don't think major beauty treatments are necessary before a wedding, but if you are considering any invasive skin treatments or cosmetic procedures, now is the time to do it, so your skin has time to heal.
You've been drinking your water, removing your makeup and looking after your hair. After all that hard work, it's time to level up the pampering.
Eyebrow shaping and tinting. If you're reshaping your eyebrows in a major way start the process earlier (at four months) to give yourself more time for growth. Reshaping and tinting however can start at six weeks before.
If you are having any last minute procedures done, facial peels, exfoliating facials or using any new products make sure to give yourself time to recover if you have an allergic reaction (we've heard horror stories so trust us!)
If you have any breakouts, try not to stress, pick at them or treat them - you'll only make it worse and your makeup artist will be able to cover up a multitude of blemishes.
If you're going down the fake tan route, remember less is more and get a spray tan two days before the wedding.
Get a massage, I know it's going to be a busy time but you will need some quiet time. 45 minutes of bliss will relax you and you'll need that decompression for what's ahead.
Have a full manicure and pedicure - a long-lasting treatment like Shellac or gel is best to avoid chipping (but still get everyone else to do the heavy lifting!).
If you're having lash extensions done, getting them done a couple of days out means they last throughout your honeymoon.
Wash your hair the night before the wedding, so it's in the best condition for styling.
That may seem like a lot to take in, but it's best to be organised. And really this wedding beauty timeline is just about picking and choosing which things you're probably already doing and watching out for the tricky ones that might cause reactions or are significant changes to your normal routine.
Manicures and makeup aside, once you're rocking a big smile and marrying your favourite person in the whole wide world, you're going to look like a bombshell on your big day.
