When it comes to planning a wedding, Dublin couple Sadhbh and Dan definitely prove that a relaxed attitude and keeping things simple can be the ultimate ingredients to a chilled wedding day. Wanting to avoid unnecessary stress and heavy travel costs, the main priority for them was focusing instead on creating a relaxed experience for their 97 guests, and in their home city of Dublin. Embracing an eight-month planning timeline with total ease, they fell in love with the architectural charm and hidden garden of the Marco Pierre White Courtyard Bar & Grill in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, where they celebrated their chic city nuptials on Midsummers Eve 2026. Photographer Nina Val seamlessly captured every gorgeous detail. So let's get straight into it...

"We originally met through our best friends who were going out at the time, in what was the Voodoo Lounge on Arran Quay in Dublin," says Sadhbh. "And we haven’t looked back since. Dan proposed in one of our favourite places, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, on on a moonlit stroll on the beach." So far, so dreamy. So what next?

Setting themselves an eight month planning window, the couple got straight to venue finding. "We knew weddings can sometimes feel like a financial pressure on people, so we wanted to select a venue that suited our guests and eliminate the cost of too much travel and accommodation," says Sadhbh. This led them to the Marco Pierre White Courtyard Bar & Grill in Dublin. The venue instantly became "the one" due to its intimate vibe as well as its design and layout, featuring opulent stained-glass skylights and a hidden garden courtyard.

The bride's sophisticated look suited the sleekness of the venue and Sadhbh looked absolutely breathtaking in the structured Bel Air gown by Jane Hill, sourced from The White & Gold boutique in Howth. She paired the dress with Lilith 85 lace ivory heels from Jimmy Choo and a cathedral-length Francesca veil by Blue Meadow.

Her look was completed with double pearl drop earrings by Nice Cream London, a Chupi teardrop pearl necklace, and a delicate Cluse mini watch. Sadhbh's radiant bridal look was crafted by makeup artist Bronze & Glow and hair stylist Nadine Walshe, perfectly complementing the timeless wedding style.

The bridesmaids stunned in three distinct silhouettes of dusty rose stretch-satin dresses from Azazie, adding a soft, romantic pop of colour to the day. Fresh white rose round bouquets complemented the gowns to perfection.

Meanwhile groom Dan looked incredibly sharp in a classic black dress suit from Louis Copeland, paired with Dune London shoes and a sleek Seiko watch.

The groomsmen looked equally dapper in rented suits from CT2 in Blanchardstown Village, while the youngest members of the wedding party wore sweet outfits from Lipsy and Monsoon

With the help of the coordination of their celebrant Arlene Coyle of Evergreen Ceremonies as well as the venue, the planning process felt seamless, "almost as if they had a built-in wedding design team" says Sadhbh.

The ceremony itself was deeply personal. Music played a massive role in setting a vibrant tone right from the start, thanks to the talent of violinist Hazel Alexander.

In a brilliantly unconventional twist, the bridal party walked down the aisle to Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club.

"We had friends and family travel from across the globe; Perth, LA, Boston, Italy & Galway. This meant so much to us and made the day that bit more special," says Sadhbh.

To close out the ceremony, violinist Hazel performed a beautiful string rendition of 50 Cent’s Best Friend. "Hazel informed us that we were (unsurprisingly) the first to request 50 Cent but it actually really worked and everyone loved it!" says Sadhbh.

The couple liked that the bar was in the main room which kept everyone crowded on the dance floor. "We loved how intimate the venue felt," says Sadhbh. "We have both been to weddings where a separate bar causes guests to split up and our goal was to keep everyone on the dance floor. Ironically, we ended up losing our guests to the courtyard because we got so lucky with a gorgeous sunny day in Dublin."

As darkness fell guests spent the evening socialising in the gorgeous courtyard, enjoying what felt like a secret city garden.

"We both had rings from our loved ones who passed (I had my late aunty’s and Dan had his nanny’s)," says Sadhbh. They had the rings repurposed in Weirs in Dublin.

Beautifully simple florals by Lynch Florist and elegant candelabras added just the right touch of romance to the tables. "The room itself is beautiful," says Sadhbh. "We kept decorations to a minimum, using subtle flowers and candelabras as our centrepieces on each table to create a moody feel."

Sadhbh says she found her aesthetic inspiration on Pinterest. "It's my favourite app. I knew I wanted a more understated wedding in a venue that has it's own character that didn't require much decorating on the day."

Summing up the wedding in a couple of sentences Sadhh says they were "going for a chic, timeless look, focused on modern simplicity." It looks like they hit this brief perfectly.

"Our top priority was to enjoy every minute of the day and feel present from beginning to end," says Sadhbh.

The celebration continued into the night with a spectacular cake from Good Cookie Dublin and an upbeat first dance to Thinking of You by Sister Sledge.

Any tips for couples planning their own day? Sadhbh and Dan advise future couples to focus on the bigger picture. "Everything works out," says Sadhbh. "We decided early on not to worry about the little details because we wanted to enjoy the whole process. Keeping things to a minimum gives you so much less to worry about. I think if you have good people, food, drink and music you really don’t need much more."

After the celebrations the newlyweds jetted off to Japan on honeymoon experiencing everything from bustling cities to postcard-worthy tropical islands.
