Whether you're craving a seaside getaway, a city steeped in rich history, or delicious food for your upcoming honeymoon, there's one Mediterranean country that offers it all: Italy. However, in addition to being the perfect spot to enjoy scenic landscapes, unforgettable meals, and unique excursions, it's also the ideal place to celebrate your recent nuptials and spend quality time with your partner. "Italy is truly one of the most romantic countries in the world, and it offers an abundance of charming towns and breathtaking cities perfect for an unforgettable honeymoon," says Yolanda "Queen" Meador, the founder of You Deserve It Vacations, a boutique travel agency.

If you do decide to head to Italy for your honeymoon, try to plan your trip for May, June, or September, avoiding the crowds who typically flock there during the peak summer months of July and August. Additionally, in August, note that many Italians head out on their own vacation, and as a result, some of the restaurants or establishments on your must-visit list may be closed for the month. And even though Italy may not be the largest country, it's full of bustling cities and charming towns you'll likely want to explore. If you can, plan to spend between 10 and 14 days there, staying in each locale for about three to five nights.

However, with hundreds of cities and towns nestled in this European country, it can be difficult to figure out where to go on your honeymoon. Here, Meador offers 10 of the most romantic and breathtaking locations in Italy. Read on for our top picks.

"This cliffside gem is pure romance—sun-kissed views, colorful buildings, and that dreamy Mediterranean vibe," Meador says. While visiting this seaside locale on your honeymoon, she recommends taking a private boat ride to Capri, relaxing at a local beach club with a spritz in hand, or dressing up for a candlelit dinner with ocean views. Make sure to snap a few romantic photos as the sun sets.

"Venice is like stepping into a painting, with canals that wind through centuries of beauty and elegance," Meador says. Explore the city's neighborhoods by hopping on a water taxi—or, if you're ready to splurge, take a gondola ride just before sunset. "Steal a kiss under the Bridge of Sighs, and get lost together in the quieter backstreets for that 'just us' moment," she adds.

Nestled in the Tuscan hills, Meador says this beloved city brings out the romantic in everyone. Indulge in a few glasses of a wine or explore the breathtaking works of art at the Uffizi Galleries. She suggests climbing to the top of the Duomo for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, taking a couples' cooking class, or enjoying a scenic drive to Chianti, a region of Tuscany known for its red wine, for a private tasting.

Escape the crowds of Amalfi and Positano by heading to Ravello, a resort town located over 1,000 feet above sea level. Meador dubs this spot "the quiet cousin" for its ability to offer couples serenity and sophistication. "Visit Villa Cimbrone and its Terrace of Infinity, attend a classical concert at Villa Rufolo, and enjoy breathtaking vistas from your balcony," she says.

However, Meador adds that it's also known for its delicious food and cobblestone charm. While in the city, she recommends leaving a love note at Juliet’s balcony, sipping Amarone wine in a local enoteca, or catching an opera under the stars in the ancient Roman Arena.
