If you’ve been hearing the phrase “Etsy witch” floating around BrideTok recently and have been left wondering how these two things are possibly connected, you’re not alone. It wasn’t until recently—May 24th, to be exact—that brides-to-be started seriously considering tapping self-proclaimed “witches” selling their “spells” on Etsy. This phenomenon is courtesy of influencer Jazmyn (“Jaz”) Smith, whose now-viral wedding content (thanks to its influencer-heavy guest list and real-time videos on TikTok—she knew how to please her over 500,000 followers on the app) featured one video with the caption “When Jaz paid an Etsy witch to make it not rain on her wedding weekend [and] we got this sunshine.”
This post sparked a flurry of other social media users discussing Etsy witch spells and documenting their experiences buying spells from Etsy seller NaturalisticBlessing, the same witch Smith used for good weather on her wedding day. Purchasing spells from Etsy witches isn't an entirely new phenomenon outside of the wedding sphere—many TikTok users have posted videos confessing their recruitment of Etsy witches to help them with everything from getting TikTok unbanned in January of this year, to getting ex-boyfriends to "break no contact" post-breakup. Many instances go viral amongst sports fans, as seen with this Buffalo Bills fan back in January and this New York Knicks fan during the current NBA playoffs.
With an event as important as your wedding day, it is no surprise that some brides are pulling out all the stops to ensure a picture-perfect ceremony. Emily Rosenblum, a recent guest at her friend, Becca’s, Poconos wedding during the weekend of May 30th, tells BRIDES writer Maddie Barber how she’s convinced this same tactic saved the couple’s wedding weekend from being a rained-out disaster.
“Like any chronically online person, I was following [Smith's] Long Island wedding content over Memorial Day weekend. She mentioned how she bought a spell for her wedding because she was so worried about the weather. The weather on her big day ended up being gorgeous; after this, my TikTok algorithm was showing me videos of people hiring the same witch for their BBQs and the Knicks games—I was really getting into the spirit of it. Becca had planned her wedding weekend with the hopes that her guests could have a fun, camp-themed experience in the Poconos, and we were all so worried because the forecast was getting worse as the week went on. Our friends wanted nothing more than to give Becca and her fiancé the weekend of their dreams.
On Thursday, I figured it couldn't hurt to get a little extra help. Initially, I tried using the same witch that Jaz used (my friend’s coworker has also used her multiple times for other needs, so I felt more confident in the process), but the user had closed their Etsy shop at the time. This led me to CrystalConjureMagic's Etsy shop, which was selling a 'Perfect Wedding Spell' on sale for $8.96. I bought it Thursday afternoon—two days before the big day.

Mid-Friday morning, I got a notification from the seller that the spell had been cast. I immediately checked the weather and saw that the chance of rain had dropped from 80 to 23 percent—I freaked out. Friday ended up being warm and sunny, and while it rained a bit on Saturday, it became clear enough for everyone to enjoy the campground, and we had a perfectly clear night for the wedding! It was a really lovely night. Looking back, I cannot believe how seriously I took this spell (and how seriously I still do take this) because it is so funny."
Rosenblum isn't the only hopeful person who has turned to CrystalConjureMagic, whose Etsy shop boasts over 5,000 reviews (with an average rating of 4.8 stars or higher), for spells for good luck or to improve specific areas of their lives. One reviewer on this seller's page calls it their "go-to shop for spells." They say: "I’ve been a returning customer. Their spells work. I ended up getting money [in] different and unexpected ways. My bank account has definitely grown and has given me a head start to begin saving." Another recent buyer raves: "Fast results! It works if you believe in it." If your upcoming outdoor wedding forecast looks iffy, this is your sign to consider casting some spells for good luck.
