For our wedding, we wanted a venue that had that quiet grandeur somewhere with a timeless, slightly undone quality. We leaned into a muted palette of warm neutrals and soft earth tones, keeping the decor minimal but intentional.
Boath House
We chose Boath House because it felt like a natural extension of everything we love about Sessions Arts Club, one of our favorite restaurants, not just for the food but for its effortless balance of history, design, and atmosphere.
With the same team transforming Boath House into a Highland boutique hotel, it had that same understated charm, elegant but relaxed, with a focus on beautiful spaces, thoughtful details, and incredible food. It wasn’t just a venue; it felt like an experience that completely aligned with our style and the wedding we wanted.
We’ve always been drawn to spaces with a sense of history – venues that feel effortlessly elegant, where aged textures, soft lighting, and understated design create an atmosphere that’s both refined and inviting.
There’s something about high ceilings, worn plaster walls, and oversized windows that let in natural light, giving a space character without feeling overly styled.

The Ceremony
Our ceremony, which was officiated by celebrant Angie Alexandra, included a traditional hand fasting and a reading by Whitney Hanson, delivered by one of Grant’s best friends.
I chose a diamond pavé ring from De Beers.
Our style leans toward things that feel classic but never stuffy – pieces with a quiet luxury, where the beauty is in the details. A pavé band has that same understated sophistication.
The tiny diamonds add a soft shimmer rather than an overwhelming flash, making the ring feel delicate but still deeply considered. It’s not about being bold for the sake of it; it’s about something timeless, refined, and beautifully made.

Grant moved to Sweden for a job at an advertising agency, not thinking much beyond the work and a new city to explore. That’s how we met! We clicked straight away and before long, we were finding excuses to grab drinks after work or stay a little later just to keep talking. At first, we kept it quiet, not wanting to make a big deal of it at the office, but that didn’t last long. What started as something casual quickly turned into something real, and before we knew it, we weren’t hiding it anymore – we were just together.
The Reception
The décor was simple and considered, letting the venue speak for itself. Candlelight filled the space, creating a soft, warm glow. Linen-draped tables, wild floral arrangements, and candlelight set the tone, while a focus on simple, high-quality food and classic cocktails made the experience feel effortless rather than over-designed.
It wasn’t about opulence but about creating a setting that felt natural and atmospheric – an extension of the kind of spaces we’re drawn to in everyday life. The result was something intimate and understated, with a beauty that didn’t try too hard.
Tables were dressed in white linen, slightly textured for a relaxed feel. Florals were minimal and loosely arranged, seasonal blooms in soft, natural tones, placed in a way that felt effortless rather than overly styled.
Everything blended naturally into the space. Nothing felt excessive or staged, it was all about creating a warm, inviting atmosphere with just a few well-chosen details.
The dinner was our favourite part of the day, because we finally got to relax and be around our friends and family (plus the food was amazing).
ARD Bakery’s cakes fit seamlessly into the kind of wedding aesthetic we’ve been drawn to – one that feels effortlessly stylish, rich in texture, and beautifully understated. Just like a venue with classic architecture and natural light, or florals that feel wild and organic rather than overly manicured, their cakes have that same sense of relaxed refinement.
They don’t feel overly polished or traditional, but instead have a sculptural, artistic quality that makes them feel at home in a space with history and character.

Evening & Dancing
Our first dance was to ‘Baby’, by Donnie & Joe Emerson. Having our friends DJ at our wedding felt like the most natural choice – it aligned perfectly with the kind of atmosphere we want to create.
Just like everything else in our wedding, from the venue to the flowers to the cake, we’re drawn to things that feel personal, effortless, and intentional rather than overly polished or staged.
Words of Wedded Wisdom

Having just been through it, the best advice we can give is to focus on what feels right for you, not what’s expected. It’s easy to get caught up in trends, traditions, or what a wedding is ‘supposed’ to look like, but the most memorable weddings are the ones that feel effortless, intentional, and personal.
Weddings don’t need to be overproduced to be beautiful. They just need to reflect you. Keep it simple, stay true to your style, and don’t let the small things stress you out. The best moments are the ones that happen naturally.
