Britt Stewart, a Dancing With the Stars pro, and Daniel Durant, an actor, first became partners in 2022, when the two were paired together for season 31 of the hit show. While they ultimately didn't win the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, they found something arguably more important: a new romantic relationship. A little over a year later, on December 25, 2023, Daniel proposed on top of a mountain in Lake Arrowhead, California. "We had already planned for Britt’s mom, her stepdad, and my two moms to travel to California for Christmas that year, and I knew that would be the perfect time," Daniel exclusively tells BRIDES. "They helped me plan how to propose, but I didn't want to plan exactly what I would say to Britt. I wanted to let my heart speak in the moment."
While he may not have known what he would say when asking for his partner's hand, it's clear the words resonated with Britt. "It felt so authentic and connected," she says, adding that the proposal was a complete surprise. "We had talked about taking the next step forward in our relationship, but I had no idea when he would propose or that he had [gotten] an engagement ring!"
When it came time for the couple to find a wedding venue, nothing felt right until they visited Riata Ranch in Santa Margarita, California. "Britt and I looked at each other and immediately knew it was where we would get married," Daniel says. The property's horses were an added bonus for Britt, who immediately loved that there was a group of them roaming free during their initial visit. They ultimately decided to tie the knot on August 23, 2025, inviting 110 guests to join them for the ceremony and celebration.
In addition to playing a key role in finding their venue, Josiah Carr and Justin McGregor at SAMKOMA helped the two plan the festivities from start to finish. "We were hoping for a wedding planner that would help us grasp not only the deaf community but the blending of worlds and cultures," the two say. "The SAMKOMA team couldn’t have been more perfect for us!" Ahead, see all of the details of their family-focused celebration, as captured by Maks Vakarchuk.

On Friday night, Britt and Daniel gathered with their loved ones for a cocktail-style welcome party with a garden-party-meets-Italian-summer aesthetic. Lucca Truck, an artisan pizza company, served a variety of gluten-free pies, including pepperoni, margherita, fungo, prosciutto burrata, and barbecue chicken. Two salad options were also available to guests.

For the pre-nuptial affair, Britt selected a silk halter-style gown with an open back from Silvia Tcherassi, which she paired with Jimmy Choo shoes. Daniel complemented his partner's look in a short-sleeve cream-colored shirt and olive pants from Massimo Dutti and Gucci shoes, an early wedding gift from Britt. A number of loved ones, including Hayley Erbert Hough, the maid of honor, gave speeches at the event.

On the big day, Britt wanted a bridal look that highlighted her natural beauty. In the lead-up to her nuptials, she followed a pre-wedding skincare routine, devised by Jady Aesthetics, that she labeled as "hard core." Keeping her nails classic and simple, she selected OPI's Put It In Neutral. She took the same approach to her hair, opting for a soft updo—a favorite of Daniel's—that showed off her décolletage and neck. Her everyday fragrance, LinnieDrew, provided the perfect finishing touch.I
Britt had a clear vision for her wedding dress, so she knew that her strapless gown from Vivienne Westwood was "the one" as soon as she tried it on. "This dress had every single element that I was looking for in a wedding dress," she says, reflecting on the shopping experience at LOHO Bride. "Most importantly, it just felt like 'me,' only in bride form." In honor of her late grandmother, Britt made sure to don the matriarch's wedding band on her big day. "My mom gifted me her wedding band a couple years ago, and I haven't taken it off since," she says, adding that Daniel also wore a ring from his late grandfather for the occasion.
Her female bridesmaids wore blush-gold dresses from Meshki, while her bridesman donned an outfit in complementary tones.

Daniel—along with his groomsmen—selected a classic black tuxedo from The Black Tux for the ceremony. While his pre-wedding skincare regimen may not have been as intensive as Britt's, he did heed his partner's recommendation to get a facial and opted to get a haircut. "I've had to grow out my hair for the past two years for acting roles in some upcoming films," he says. "I was finally able to cut my hair how I wanted it for the wedding."
A longtime friend, Mikell Sandberg, served as his best man. "We first met at deaf family camp for deaf children with hearing families," Daniel says. "Our grandfathers, both hearing, were best friends and would fish together and wanted us to have a friend that we could relate to in life."

Before heading to their ceremony, Britt and Daniel reserved time for a first look. "We received so much advice about making sure to find private moments throughout the wedding for us as a couple," Britt says. Reserving time to do so before the festivities officially kicked off was important to both of them.
While they each were involved in the planning process, Britt made sure she didn't disclose any of the details of her gown to Daniel. "It was so hard not sharing my dress with Daniel because we share everything with each other, but it made that first look moment so special," she says. "It was also very important for me that our parents give us a blessing, a prayer, before our ceremony. It was so beautiful to have them offer a covering of protection and abundance."

The couple hosted their ceremony underneath a large tree on the property, wanting to be surrounded by nature as they said their vows. Opting for minimalist décor, Curry & Co. crafted a grounded arch and grassy aisle arrangements for the space. Their neutral-hued color palette, which featured shades of white, ivory, and beige, also appeared throughout. Britt walked herself down the first part of the aisle before meeting her mother and father to escort her the rest of the way.

Both Britt and Daniel wanted to write their own vows. Daniel's childhood interpreter, Doug Boen-Bailey, signed for him during the ceremony—but not during the couple's vow exchange. "I chose not to speak my vows and only sign them to Daniel," Britt says. "I was also very specific that I didn't want anyone to interpret Daniel during his vows. It was very important to me that his vows were fully Daniel and not clouded by someone else's voice."
The couple recessed down the aisle to an upbeat instrumental version of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Let's Groove Tonight."

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the couple's signature drinks at cocktail hour, both of which were named after their two cats, Hudson and Orlando. The former was a gin and tonic—and the latter was a dirty martini. Integrating their pets into their big day was important to both of them. "Hudson is sick, so this made his presence in any way feel extra special," Britt says. "We also decided to personalize our cocktail napkins with handwritten love notes we've sent each other over the years."

Before heading into their reception, Britt and Daniel snapped a few more golden-hour portraits, taking the opportunity to visit with the property's horses.

The couple's reception was held inside a conservatory-style greenhouse. Long wooden tables were topped with gold flatware, cream-colored linens, and simple arrangements featuring white flowers and greenery. In addition to a plated dinner service, Field To Table, their selected caterer, served passed appetizers that highlighted some of their favorite foods, including oysters, caviar, sushi, and tacos. "I always say I’m a complicated order when I'm at restaurants because I have a severe gluten and shrimp allergy," Britt says. "We were blown away by the accommodations and delicious menu they created."

The newlyweds selected Benson Boone's "Forever and a Day" for their first dance. "When I discovered this song I felt like it was so [us]," Britt says. "I showed the Daniel the lyrics, and he agreed this would be the perfect option for our first dance." The two shared the floor for their parent-child dances, which were done to Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."

For their dessert, the couple selected a trend-forward flat cake from Just Baked decorated with grapes, kiwis, blackberries, strawberries, and fresh flowers. They served the confection alongside a number of baked goods and pastries. For the final hours of the reception, Britt opted for an outfit change, switching into a sequined corset dress from Epuzer.

In a nod to the way they met, the couple spent the rest of the night dancing alongside their loved ones. "I surprised Daniel with friends that specialize in interpreting music for their fellow deaf community," Britt says. "I wanted him to feel included in our entertainment, so they signed a few songs throughout the night."
Even though wedding planning may have been difficult with each of their packed schedules, both Britt and Daniel encourage future couples to enjoy every part of the process. "In the grand scheme of things, this such a short period of time for you and your fiancé," Britt says. "I would say to not get caught up in the small things or the stress of planning because really the only thing that matters is that you are marrying the love of your life."
