Colourful, Creative and Classical: Isobel & Dominic's Wedding at Home

There is something so magical about tying the knot in a place filled with memories and love as Isobel and Dominic's sunny spring wedding proves. Isobel’s aunt and uncle kindly offered the use of their beautiful house and garden for their wedding weekend and Donaguile House in Co. Kilkenny set an incomparably charming stage for their personal, thoughtful and ultra-stylish celebration. Planned and styled to perfection by the bride and her aunt Jane Willoughby, who is a gifted artist and muralist, their wedding was brimming with sweet spring colours with a twist of the classical and timeless!

The bride's dad had sadly passed away in recent years and they wanted to make sure that he was at the centre of the day with so many heartwarming tributes. The Brighton-based couple exchanged vows in the picturesque walled garden which was followed by a fun-filled tipi reception. Every detail was curated with immense heart for an enduringly elegant celebration. Check out every incredible moment below, their images from SOSAC Photography are bursting with joy.

We're kicking off on a dreamy note - with their love story! Isobel is from Cork city while Dominic hails from Brighton in England. They met in London when they were 22 while Isobel was doing her Masters in Psychology at UCL. "Dominic was working on an accountancy scheme nearby when they matched on Tinder, for what was initially intended to be a summer romance, as Isobel was due to move back to Cork that September after her course had ended. The sparks flew and the stars aligned, however, and they ended up spending several great years in London together, prior to moving down to Brighton to renovate a home together in 2021."

Their eighth anniversary was absolutely unforgettable as Dominic proposed while during a surprise trip to New York in the summer of 2023. "Isobel said yes at the lakeside in central park on a surreal, sparkling, jetlagged day, with the moment captured by an unsuspecting passerby who Dominic had roped in to take our photo. It was magic."

Planning a wedding at home can come with its own unique set of challenges and the couple wanted to create a relaxed and jubilant atmosphere where their loved ones could explore and soak up the magic of the celebration without too much structure to the day. They tied the knot on 3rd May 2025 surrounded by 140 of their loved ones. "We were blessed by the unreliable Irish sun and by a matching shine brought by every dear friend & family member present."

The bride has always adored bright colours and their celebration oozed vibrant energy thanks to the dreamy flowers by Juniper Rose. "Rachel was just amazing, and perfectly brought our vision to life."

Isobel elaborates further on the vibe of the celebration, "It was an easy, beautiful, relaxed, creative day, buzzing with colour, music, energy and connection."

Isobel’s uncle Ernesto officiated their ceremony which was beautiful, thoughtful, warm, funny, and perfect.

You can find her aunt Jane's sublime creations hanging in One Fab Day recommended venues including Mount Juliet and Martinstown House and guests were able to peruse her original artwork throughout the house too.

Isobel's mum flew the flag for Irish design wearing an effortlessly chic look from AndTate by designer Sharon Hoey.

Isobel's siblings, Eoghan and Emily, and her brother’s partner (and honorary sister), Katie, provided the most beautiful music. "Katie’s haunting rendition of She Moved Through the Fair with a squeezebox accompaniment during our ring-warming ceremony is still a highlight - it was a moment that seemed to briefly suspend the day. Ending the ceremony with our friends and family all joining in to sing Real Love Baby by Father John Misty was a special moment."

"We couldn’t think of a more perfect and beautiful place to have our big day," Isobel says. "There had been a family tradition of weddings taking place in my late grandmother’s garden in Kilree, Kilkenny, so it was wonderful to continue this tradition in a small way after her passing in 2021. As my mum is from Kilkenny, I spent a lot of time there growing up, seeing cousins, aunts & uncles, so it was lovely to return there to have our big day in beautiful and familiar surroundings."

Isobel's lustrous wedding dress with sweet sheer puff sleeves was by Blake Ida London who she found exploring online. She accessorised with a pair of “cheap and cheerful" pointed gold heels from ASOS, pearl earrings from Grace & Kin, and a beautiful necklace from Diana O’Mahony jewellers in Cork city which her mum gave her as a wedding present. Her sister's wedding bag was her ‘something borrowed’ and her 'something blue' was her dad’s old blue handkerchief.

They met their wedding photographer, the incredible SOSAC Photography, at their friends’ wedding the previous year and they knew he would be able to capture all the unforgettable moments and beautiful details of their day perfectly.

The wedding day of their dreams would not have been possible without their planner Blathnaid Lane who made everything run seamlessly along with the wonderful catering, accommodation, service and planning support provided by The Avalon House Hotel in Castlecomer. "The most wonderful team of exceptional professionals who worked with us throughout the proceeding months to create the magical day that we had envisaged and more!"

Dominic's suave tux was made by a bespoke tailor on Saville Row in London and his shoes were from Loake. His groomsmen wore suits from Hawes.

Isobel reflects on paying homage to her beloved late dad throughout her special day, "As a true showman and all-round renaissance man, he would have loved regaling the crowd with enthralling stories and jokes, and he would have so enjoyed the beautiful music provided by my wonderful siblings during the ceremony. We ended the wedding dinner with a whiskey toast to him provided by his best friend, Arthur Zebo."

Classic and refined, their wedding cake by Mo Grá Cakes in Kilkenny was as delicious as it was beautiful!

Her bridesmaids wore sophisticated satin navy gowns with mix and match necklines from a selection of shops, including Reiss.

Stationery was by Invite Shack who were "so responsive, helpful and accommodating" to their many requests, particularly when it came to perfecting their wedding invites. Isobel's best friend and bridesmaid, Hannah, and her husband, Joe, created a fabulous handmade signpost to guide guests to the various different locations around the venue. "It was a detail that we both adored!"

She has the following sage wedding planning advice, "If you can, planning a couple of weekends away together in the 12-18 months before the wedding can be a nice way to get the ball rolling on the many wedding tasks while also having some nice down time as a couple. We were really struggling to get started initially, and made a big break through when we went on a lovely weekend to Seville; lots of key decisions were made over some tapas and sangria. Also, spreadsheets! Dominic’s accounting background came in handy when the planning became increasingly complicated; keeping all of the details together in some neat spreadsheets really helped us to keep track of outstanding tasks, suppliers and the budget."

They had an array of food trucks on site so that their guests never went hungry with tasty sweet treats throughout the drinks reception from Born and Bred Waffles and Mobile Home Fries being the snack of choice for the late-night revellers.

They couldn't recommend their wedding band, Haste to the Wedding Ceilidh Band, highly enough - they ensured a craic-filled session on the dancefloor. "We both felt shy at the idea of doing a formal first dance, so we opted instead to demonstrate the first ceilidh dance instead, which was great fun!"

Later, the combo of DJ Cian Drinan and Bongo Steve not only made the groom's day but they turned the wedding party "basically feral". "Bongo Steve is an old friend and wonderfully talented musician, and he and Cian could not have provided a more wonderful late-night party!"

Isobel and Dominic went to Japan for their honeymoon last September where they travelled around Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kanazawa, Shirakawa-Go, and Hakone. "It was just sublime, the trip of a lifetime!"

Isobel and Dominic, the biggest congratulations from all of us at One Fab Day! A very special thanks to our lovely couple and to SOSAC Photography for sharing today's absolutely magical wedding with our readers.
