You Are Amazing As by Raquel Franco

Discovering a dress that slow dances

with your body has pockets, a place

to rest nervous hands.

You are as amazing as bed sheets fresh

from the dryer, warm like the cradle

of a mother’s arms. You are extra

french fries at the bottom

of a deliciously greasy bag,

money found in between the lazy

couch cushions, the butter yellow sun

showing up just as the sky

was about to weep, an extra day

of summer in the middle of a sleepy October.

You are a double rainbow smiling

across the wet lawn. You are the parmesan

offered on blistered tomato pasta

and I am never saying when.
