Ceremony Reading from When Harry Met Sally

Is it 'sweater weather' yet? Maybe not quite, but now that the season is turning, it feels timely to get cosy and call in some of favourite autumn-coded rom com movies for ceremony reading inspiration. The one that I definitely love best - hands down - is When Harry Met Sally. Even though the story actually spans 12 years and covers every season, the film effectively invented the American 'fall aesthetic' that we all now love at this time of year (Hello 'Gilmore Girls', 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter'!).

The most memorable imagery in the film features Harry and Sally walking side-by-side through Central Park surrounded by blazing orange, yellow, and burnt-amber foliage, and from there scenes move between book shops, cafes and dimly lit NYC apartments, all alongside the brilliant writing of Nora Ephron, directing of Rob Reiner and the wit and natural onscreen chemistry of actors Billy Crysal and Meg Ryan. It is also a pretty perfect choice for a couple who were friends before they fell in love - as well as for an autumn or Christmas wedding!
