Your wedding color palette is one of the first major design decisions you make when it comes to your big day. Depending on the season and location of your celebration, you may lean into darker, moodier hues, wanting to give a luxurious and dramatic feel to your nuptials—or you may decide to opt for costal-inspired pastels, brightening up your ceremony and reception space with soft pinks, blues, and greens. However, this year, there's one color that seems to be appearing almost everywhere: butter yellow. This trend-forward tone is touching so many different types of fêtes—from destination affairs in Portugal to lakeside celebrations on the shores of Michigan. And rather than being confined to just one key aspect of the festivities, it's showing up across multiple elements, including the fashion, décor, and food.
"Every season, a certain color always seems to slowly sneak into the wedding world, and then, in a blink of an eye, it's a full-on trend," says Kate Edwards-Healy, a photographer and the owner of Kate Edwards Weddings. In addition to it appearing on tablescapes and floral arrangements, she's also noticed the hue popping up in key fashion moments—from a bride's reception dress to a guest's floor-length gown. "It's like wearing the color 'champagne' instead of white; its subtle and classic, but also modern, which brides are really leaning into these days," she adds.
Looking for ways to add this hue into your own celebration? Below, we offer 12 ideas from real weddings on how to do just that. From bridesmaid dresses and flower-girl outfits to centerpieces and bridal bouquets, we've got you covered. Read on for more.
