It's a well-known wives tale that rain on your wedding day brings good luck. A wet knot is harder to untie after all! Emily and Evan didn't let the weather dampen the spirit of their special day, in fact it was even more magical because of it. Based in Slane in Meath, they chose one of the most magical venues in the county for their summer wedding. They exchanged vows surrounded by 130 of their loved ones at the charming The Station House Hotel. The aesthetic reflected the natural beauty of the venue with bright colours throughout and effortlessly elegant style. Their heartfelt celebration was wonderfully personal as they included sweet nods to their love of travel and quizzes! Captured beautifully by Nina Val Photography, let's check out their sweet-as-can-be bash below. Originally from Navan in Meath, Emily and Evan met through a mutual friend on a night out on New Year's Eve. "We ran into each other again about a month later and exchanged numbers, and it all went from there!" Their proposal took place in Zambia where Evan got down on one knee while they were visiting Victoria Falls. Evan had been carrying the ring with him for the first few weeks of the holiday and Emily was very surprised when he popped the question. "He is known for losing things so this was nearly as impressive as the stunning proposal setting!" The couple wanted their June celebration to be relaxed and they were fully focused on having fun with their friends and family. Emily and Evan dreamt of tying the knot at a picturesque venue where they felt right at home. "It needed to be intimate enough that we felt we were getting to see all our guests. We loved the food at the venue and had heard great reports which was important to us too." Dapper groom Evan wore a navy suit from Louis Copeland & Sons with Bugatti shoes while his best gents wore suits from Pat Byrne Menswear. As for what made the character-filled Meath venue ‘the one’, the outdoor ceremony location and the beautiful grounds stole their hearts. Their loved ones were the beating heart of their day. "Our wedding celebrant Maureen is a family friend and knew us so well which made it really personal. We made sure to speak about people close to us who have died. We had friends and family read and play music. Evan's two brothers and Emily's brother were groomsmen, Emily's cousins and childhood best friend were bridesmaids. Both sets of parents had a part to play in the ceremony and reception so it was very family focused." The bridesmaids wore elegant emerald green gowns from Folkster. The flowers designed by Wildflower and Wren were bursting with vibrancy. Check out their incredible ceremony backdrop! It was a very special moment for the couple as they walked down the aisle together to Future Days by Pearl Jam which was performed by their dear friend Kevin. Emily's breathtaking floral lace gown was from Love Ellie Bridal which she styled with New Look shoes and Rosie and Dott jewellery. Her most important accessory was her wedding band which is her late grandmother's. "Stay true to yourself and choose what you feel comfortable with, not what you think you should do," is the wedding advice they swear by. "Make sure to have fun together on the day," they add! They had quizzes during the drinks reception which were a big hit with their guests. We know you'll be drooling over their floral-adorned wedding cake by Bakealicious by Eimear. Their reception took place in the dazzling Carriage Suite with travel-inspired table names and lush foliage incorporated in the styling. The couple had their first dance under the stars to First Date by Blink 182. The dancefloor was bursting all night long thanks to the authentic, energetic and unapologetically different wedding band The Panoramics. "Music is very important to us and we were delighted to find a band that played our style and had everyone up dancing all night." Emily and Evan are big travel lovers and for their honeymoon they planned an amazing two-month trip. "We went to Tanzania, Uganda, Mauritius, Nepal and India. Each country was so different and we loved it." Congratulations Emily and Evan!
