By the Modern Weddings editors
Updated November 2, 2026: we rechecked every Etsy price and link.
The best paper anniversary gifts take something only the two of you have, like your vows, your first-dance song or the invitation still sitting in a drawer, and put it on paper you’ll keep: a bouquet of roses folded from your song lyrics, a framed invitation, a star map of the sky on your wedding night. Our editors picked 25 of them for your wife, your husband or the two of you, from Etsy makers, Smythson, Papier, Framebridge, Lovepop and more.
To choose them, we compared listings, read every personalization and return policy, and checked each price on Oct. 20, 2026. Most of these are made to order, so check the processing time and order three to four weeks before your date (six weeks or more for the hand-painted pieces). Married this year? Every one of them also works as a first-Christmas-married gift.

Paper anniversary gifts under $50
For the wife who saves every sticky note you leave on the coffee maker
Knock Knock What I Love About Us Fill in the Love Journal
This palm-size hardcover (4.5 by 3.25 inches, 112 pages) is nothing but fill-in-the-blank lines about the two of you, so the gift is whatever you write in it. Fill in a few pages on your lunch breaks for a week and it reads like a love letter in installments. It’s the least expensive pick here, which leaves more for dinner.
For the husband who swears he doesn’t want a gift
Lovepop Just for the Record Pop-Up Anniversary Card
A card is the most paper of paper gifts, and this one opens into a little turntable with a sign that says “You’re Still My Favorite.” The cover reads Just for the Record, the inside says Happy Anniversary, and a slide-out note holds whatever you want to add. It’s 5 by 7 inches, and Lovepop warns the envelope may need extra postage.
For the couple who wants to reread this year on your 10th anniversary
Letters to My Love: Write Now. Read Later. Treasure Forever.
Chronicle Books fits 12 fold-and-mail letters into one book, each opening with a prompt like “When we first met” or “I promise to you,” plus two blank templates for your own ideas. Write them now, seal them, and pick a year to open each one. It’s our budget pick, and Chronicle says it was an Oprah’s Favorite Things pick.
For two people who can’t remember what they did last Tuesday
Our Q&A a Day: 3-Year Journal for 2 People
One question a day, room for both of your answers, and three years on every page, so by your fourth anniversary you can see how your answers changed. It takes a couple of minutes before bed, and you start on whatever today’s date happens to be. Keep it on the nightstand, not the bookshelf, or it won’t get filled in.
For the wife who still talks about how clear the sky was at your reception
thestarsaround Custom Star Map Print
Give the Illinois shop a date, a place and a line of text, and it maps the stars as they sat over that spot that night. You get a draft to approve within a day, and printed posters go on 260 GSM luster paper. The $19 price is the digital file; an unframed 8-by-10 print is $44.99 and framed starts at $69.99.
For the newlyweds with a lot of firsts still ahead
BearyBestStudio Marriage Milestones Open When Letter Set
Six handmade envelopes, each holding a blank 5-by-7 card, are labeled for milestones like buying your first home and your first fight as a married couple, plus one to open now. Write all six this week and tuck the set where you’ll both remember it. One envelope is for a pregnancy announcement, so skip that card if it isn’t your plan. It ships free from Tennessee, and the shop doesn’t take returns.
For the husband who packs a deck of cards for every vacation
StudioSuikerwit Custom Photo Playing Cards
Every card in this 54-card deck can carry one of your photos, printed on 300g coated paper and laminated, with up to three lines of text on the backs. You choose anywhere from 1 to 55 photos, and the box can be customized too. It starts at $23.07 on sale (regular $35.49), and the Los Angeles shop accepts returns within 30 days.
For the wife who’d like flowers that outlast the week
PagesGarden Song Lyric Paper Rose Bouquet
Send the shop your first-dance song, your vows or a poem, and it folds the words into ivory or white paper roses, each about 2 inches across on a 9-inch stem. Five roses start at $24.99 and a dozen is $49.95. Production takes about two weeks before it ships from California, and the listing has more than 900 reviews averaging five stars.
For the husband who has already picked next year’s trip
Landmass Scratch Off World Map
Scratch the gold foil off every country you visit together, starting with the honeymoon. The 24-by-17-inch black poster shows 210 country flags and state outlines for the U.S., Canada and Australia, and Landmass sells it on Amazon itself. Frame it before you scratch anything, or it’ll live in the mailing tube forever.
For the couple whose dinner talk has turned into who’s walking the dog
{THE AND} Long-Term Couples Edition
The Skin Deep, the studio behind the {THE AND} conversation videos, wrote this deck of 199 question cards for couples who are past the getting-to-know-you stage. One card asks which moment from your relationship you’d relive forever. Bring it to the anniversary dinner and leave the phones in the car.
For the wife who’d wear the paper theme out to dinner
Littlesweethappyness Origami Paper Crane Earrings
Tiny cranes folded from patterned Japanese paper and sealed in glossy resin, on drops about 2 inches long. There are more than a dozen color combinations (a few were sold out when we looked), and the Texas shop takes returns within seven days. They were 35% off when we checked, a sale that runs through Nov. 3.
For the spouse who’d rather you borrow a poet’s words than write your own
Wonderbly Poems for You: Anniversary Edition
Pick from more than 100 poems, classics and newer writers, chosen by anthologist Ana Sampson, then add names, photos and your own dedication. You can preview all 44 pages before you pay, and Wonderbly prints and dispatches it in two to four working days. Write the dedication yourself; it’s the page that gets reread.
For the couple whose date night is takeout and the same three shows
The Adventure Challenge Couples Edition
Fifty scratch-off dates you don’t see until you commit, from baking an apple pie blindfolded to re-creating your grandparents’ first date. The company says the challenges run from $0 to $50 each, so it won’t wreck the budget. Scratch one off on your anniversary night and keep going all year.
$49.99 at The Adventure Challenge
Paper anniversary gifts from $50 to $100
For the wife who deserves a poem you’re not qualified to write
Typewriter Troubadour Custom Typewriter Poetry
Give this San Diego poet a word or a few details (how you met, what makes her laugh) and you’ll get a draft to tweak before the final poem is typed on a vintage typewriter and mailed. Every order comes with a free copy of one of the poet’s books. The shop asks for three to four weeks’ notice before a special occasion, and custom poems can’t be returned.
For the couple with 4,000 photos from year one and none of them printed
Papier Golden Together Foiled Hardcover Photo Book
Your names go on the cover in gold foil, and the book starts at 24 pages with room to add up to 76 more. Papier’s editor can autofill the layouts if you’d rather not design every spread, and you can add captions as you go. The 11-by-8.5-inch size is $57, and a gift box is $12 more.
For the husband who does the Sunday crossword in pen
YourCrossword Custom Anniversary Crossword Puzzle
Fill out a trivia form about the two of you and the North Carolina shop builds a standard 15-by-15 puzzle with about 70 clues, at least 20 of them about your story (“Bar where you first met” is the shop’s own example). It arrives as a printable PDF with an answer key, so print it on heavy paper and leave it next to his coffee. It was on sale for $56.25 when we checked; digital files can’t be returned.
For the couple whose wedding invitation is still in a drawer
Framebridge Custom Framing for Your Wedding Invitation
Our top pick, because almost every couple already owns the best paper keepsake from the wedding. Framebridge sends prepaid packaging, you mail in the invitation (or the whole suite, or the vows you read), and it comes back in a frame with an acid-free mat and UV-protective acrylic. Pieces up to 5 by 7 inches start at $85 and up to 9 by 12 inches at $115, plus a $10 mail-in fee. Framebridge’s editors write that “the key to perfectly framed wedding invitation is float mounting,” which lifts the paper off the mat and adds $25 to $50. An engraved plate with your date is $5 to $25 more, and you can drop the invitation off at a Framebridge store instead of mailing it.
For the wife who owns more books than shelves
Booksandtimbers Custom Folded Book Art
Our top pick for readers. Katie Pacheco, who runs this Colorado shop, folds your initials and wedding date into the pages of a hardcover novel, and she writes that each one “stands at an average height of 8 inches.” The Knot’s Chapelle Johnson notes you can also “ask the Etsy seller to source a specific book for you,” for an added fee, so it can be the novel she loves. It’s $90 on sale through Nov. 18 (regular $100). Personalized orders can’t be returned, so double-check the date you type.
For the husband who writes everything down
Smythson Tying the Knot Panama Notebook
Smythson fills this pocket notebook with 128 leaves of its gilt-edged, pale blue Featherweight paper, made in England, and stamps the cover Tying the Knot. Yes, the cover is lambskin, and leather is year three. The pages are what count this year.
For the husband who wore cufflinks once and has been looking for an excuse
PaperAnniversaryLove Wedding Vow Cufflinks
Your vows, printed on paper and sealed under a clear cover in cufflinks with a silver or yellow gold finish, up to 15 words per piece. Cufflinks or a tie clip alone are $99 and the set is $129, and the San Francisco shop says it makes them in one to two business days. Proofs come only if you ask for one, and custom orders can’t be returned.
Paper anniversary gifts from $100 to $200
For the couple who still orders the same thing at your first-date restaurant
maryfrancessmith Original Pen-and-Ink Venue Drawing
Send several photos of the place (the listing names churches, hotels and restaurants) and this St. Louis artist draws it in archival ink on an 8-by-10 sheet of acid-free paper, signed, with a cream mat that fits a standard 11-by-14 frame. You also get a digital file of the drawing. Shipping is $13, and returns are accepted within seven days, which is rare for custom art.
For the wife who still knows every word of your first-dance song
MissBespokePapercuts Wedding Lyric Paper Cut
Aimee Richards cuts a portrait of the two of you on your wedding day by hand, framed by your wedding flowers and up to 25 words from your song, vows or reading. She sends a rough sketch within seven days and says the cutting “can take me up to eight hours.” Unframed it’s $158 and framed versions go to $277.46; the shop prices in British pounds, so the dollar figure moves a little. It ships free from England, and custom work can’t be returned.
Paper anniversary gifts $200 and up
For the wife who wants a painting of your wedding day, not another print of the photo
AnellHappyWatercolor Hand-Painted Couple Watercolor
An original watercolor of the two of you, painted by hand from your photo on 140-pound Fabriano cold-pressed paper, with the option to add a pet or two. The artist sends a proof before shipping, paints within one to three weeks of getting your photo, and ships from Ukraine for $14.95. The 8-by-10 starts at $250 (it was briefly on sale for $185 when we checked), and the frame isn’t included.
For the couple who learned to cook together this year
Year one is when the house recipes get invented, usually on a Tuesday. Smythson’s Soho journal is divided into sections for first courses, mains, sides and desserts on its pale blue Featherweight paper, bound in navy lambskin. It’s a lot for a notebook and about right for one you’ll hand down.
For the couple who still drives past the venue
JennyPaintsByHand Hand-Painted Venue Watercolor
Jennifer Baghdoian paints your venue by hand in watercolor and gouache on 140-pound, 100% cotton archival paper, and she’ll “message a final pencil sketch outline for your approval before inking/painting.” Prices start at $335 for a 5-by-7 of the building alone and reach $1,295 for a 16-by-20 with full landscaping, plus $10 FedEx shipping from Michigan. Email her your photos and your date before you order: her listing says Etsy’s delivery estimates aren’t accurate for her shop, and the estimate we saw ran into January. All sales are final, and it’s our splurge pick for a reason.
What is the traditional first anniversary gift?
Paper. Emily Post’s original 1922 Etiquette listed paper for the first year of marriage, and the Emily Post Institute’s anniversary gifts by year chart gives clocks as the modern first-anniversary gift and the carnation as the flower. The Institute’s own advice on the whole list is that a thoughtfully chosen gift matters more than the material.
